Earn Codes

Earn Codes must be defined in order to use Time Manager.

Prerequisites

Earn Codes themselves have no prerequisite data (that is, they exist independently of Facilities and Pay Rules).

Definition

An Earn Code is a 20-character code that describes a pay type (e.g., REG for regular, SICK for sick time). Earn Codes are common across all Facilities and are linked to specific Pay Rules.

For example, Facility C1P1/Pay Rule 1 may have REG for the regular Earn Code, whereas Facility C1P2/Pay Rule 1 may have REGULAR for the regular Earn Code. In another example, Facility C1P1/Pay Rule 1 may have SICK for the sick time Earn Code, whereas Facility C1P2/Pay Rule 1 may have 002 for the sick time Earn Code.

File Room

The Earn Codes file room provides a view of all of the Earn Codes available in the system. Earn Codes are user-definable and the grid is personalizable through the DELMIA Apriso personalization framework. For details on personalization, refer to the Portal Implementation Guide.

To view the Earn Code Properties, double-click an Earn Code or select one and click (Properties).

To add a new Earn Code:

1. Click (Add) and the Add Earn Code dialog box will appear:



2. Enter a unique Earn Code name.
3. Press OK.

To delete an Earn Code, click (Delete) (you will be asked for confirmation prior to deleting).

The entity will not be removed if it is being referenced elsewhere in the application.

Earn Code Properties

The Earn Code Properties screen enables viewing and modifying the attributes of the entity:

The header of the properties screen contains the following buttons:

• Save – pressing this will save your modifications
• Close – pressing this will save your modifications and exit the property sheet
• Discard – pressing this will abandon your modifications and exit the property sheet

On the property sheet screen, you can define the following properties:

Attribute	Description
Earn Code	The unique identifier of the Earn Code. The Earn Code determines the code against which the employee hours will be charged. Examples of Earn Codes include: REG, SICK, VACATION, and BEREAVEMENT.
Description	The description of the entity.
Color	The background color to be used on the Calendar and in the Time Manager screens for columns relating to this Earn Code. Earn Code colors are reflected only for Salaried Exempt Employees.
External System Earn Code	The corresponding Earn Code in the Payroll system or a system external to DELMIA Apriso.
Earn Code Class	A user-definable class for an Earn Code. You can define a new class by clicking (Link) and using (Add) in the new screen. To remove a class, click (Unlink).
